I’m a big fan of podcasts. I’ve always preferred true crime podcasts over any other topic, but recently I’ve really been getting into podcasts about mental wellbeing. I love anything that makes me feel like I’m improving myself, so why not extend that to podcasts?
I’ve listed a couple of my current favourites below.
The Mind Palace
The Mind Palace is relatively unknown in the podcast world but it’s one of my favourites. Jessica and Melissa talk about lots of different topics from relationships to minimalism, but there’s also loads about mental wellbeing.
It’s not one of the most professional of podcasts, but that’s what makes it more fun, because it just feels like 2 friends chatting about life.
Happier with Gretchen Rubin
Gretchen Rubin seems like one of those people that just has her life together. She makes me want to be a better person and her podcast ‘Happier with Gretchen Rubin’ is making me feel like I’m improving myself one episode at a time.
The great thing about the podcast is that Gretchen talks about improving what you are already good at, rather than trying to change yourself. She also says that you should focus on your strengths and realise that what works for someone else might not work for you. Her outlook on life is so inspirational that you’ll always come away feeling happier.
Although there have been more than 200 episodes of Magic Lessons, I’ve only just got around to listening to it and I love it! Elizabeth Gilbert’s book, Big Magic, is everywhere right now and the podcast ties to it perfectly.
The podcast features Gilbert talking to guests about creativity and how to balance it with other aspects of daily life. It’s a really positive, feel-good podcast and I’ve learned so much from it.
Good Life Project
This one is quite new to me but it’s a great podcast to put on for your commute. It focuses a little more on the psychology of happiness and productivity rather than mental health but it’s a great way of hearing about the habits of successful people.
If it’s calm that you’re seeking out, then ‘Radio Headspace’ is the podcast for you. Headspace is an app which features mindfulness segments that you can listen to to distress, but the podcast talks about some of the science of mindfulness and looks at some of the good habits of happy people.
It’s a really interesting insight if you’re looking to learn more about mindfulness as a whole and improve your mental health.
